Since receiving his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Idaho in 1989, Lance has been specializing in custom residential and interior design, with an emphasis on sustainability. Together with more than five years in building construction, his experience spans over 35 years, and includes high-end custom residential, multi-family housing, retail, mixed use, institutional, health care facilities, educational campuses, wineries, office towers and tenet improvements. Lance has worked in large and small offices in San Francisco, Sonoma County, and Stockholm, including his own firm here in Mendocino, and Sonoma County since 1995.

Lance is creative, competent, self-motivated individual. A team player with a keen eye for detail, quality and craftsmanship. He has many years experience putting together building permit sets, and taking projects from design development through building department submittal, with little oversight. Lance is competent in coordinating clients, contractors, and consultants throughout the design and construction process. His hands-on construction experience provides him with an extensive working knowledge of residential building construction means, methods, materials and systems selection.

Lance possesses exceptional AutoCAD drafting and presentation skills. He has worked in AutoCAD since v2.3, and is proficient in Revit and BIM workflows. He know proper layer management, sheet set up and plotting techniques. He owns AutoCAD Architecture, Revit, and 3DS Max, v2023. He has extensive experience creating accurate existing conditions drawing sets, with minimal guidance, in an efficient manner. His primary workstation environment is Windows, though he does have experience using Macintosh systems, and is proficient in MS Excel & Word.

Passionate about the environment, Lance studied sustainable design in school, and practiced it here from the beginning. He has acquired additional green building knowledge, becoming certified by the U.S. Green Building Council as LEED AP for Homes, and Master Green Building Professional, and by Build It Green as Green Point Rater Advisor. Lance has a thorough knowledge of local, county, state title 24, Cal Green, CEQA, and ADA codes. He has completed NCARB’s ARE and is eligible for California licensure.
